Some might say, the current condition is better than it ever was - including the day it rolled off the factory floors

That van is sick! Did you make the light bar?

Yep. 3/16 walled 2" tubing, 1/2" flat stock, 1" round stock.

So far so good. I have my stopping power back and I don’t have both calipers dragging from collapsed hoses.

It feels strangely quick right now ;)

Convenient I have good brakes to stop it.

When the light is right can you see the painted calipers through though wheels or was it just a fun color to serve a functional purpose?

Jesus so it’s more of a push/bash bar than a simple light bar.  What does it weigh, 35 lbs?

No idea. Takes 2 people to get it on and off, probably around 75 lbs?

It was built to be solid enough for me to add a winch mount to, it can take a lot of abuse, it’s direct bolted to the frame with 1/2" grade 8 bolts.

It peeks through the wheel openings, but mostly it was just a fun color to keep them from ending up crusty.

I do too.

Once my rear suspension is done I’ll be getting the stuff for my winch and spare tire mounts, then we’ll be all set to get out in the wilderness more.

Which is inevitable when you actually use a vehicle that large to carry more than one person.

Glad you got it back on the road.  I’m fairly sure there are some locals who missed seeing one of the more unique vehicles around.

Nice! I would have loved one on my old Corolla.

These are surprisingly light, 3,400 lbs with me in it, so about 3,250 lbs by itself.

Actually it’s quite small all around compared to pretty much any modern vehicle.

It was easy to do on this, me and a good friend designed and built it on a Saturday afternoon.

Minivans were very well designed platforms saddled with factory interiors you didn’t lament sacrificing.  Demo drivers are actually hording them knowing their preferred vehicles are almost gone.
